Hi
i stayed in Helsinki for a night as only a lay-over to get to Russia. I didnt really enjoy it - not much goin on. it seemed like a slow nightlife. Other backpackers i met in the baltics said the same thing. Very modern and boring architecure - for me anyway.

BUT i was only there for 24 hours. But many others said the same thing. And expensive! - Get to Tallinn - Great city across the water!

Yeah,

Echoing GeoffG sentiments about taking the ferry to Tallinn. He almost stole the thought from my head when I read your post. I cant say much for Helsinki other then expensive.
Tallinn on the other hand is like the weekend party land for most young and old from Finland. It is trully a must to check it out. You will not be disappointed. Check out Hollywood club on a friday nite. Ferry it to Estonia. You may need a visa though so look into that.

yeah moscow METER is right Tallinn is one of the best cities in Europe. - I think. Now that its been Euro-ized i dont know how cheap it is. but great town. Old medieval center - very clean - and great clubs.

I think it has more Finns though than Estonians. :)
