My girlfriend is off to New york in the new year and im
trying to find out where are the best places to shop in New York?
obviously she dosnt want to max out the credit cards with all louis viton gear but instead the outlets where she can get good clothing at a good price.
can anyone tell me where the best place to shop in new york city is?
Since no one had responded I'm going to give you some general guidelines. There is shopping EVERYWHERE in NYC. She can go to the fashion district. She can go to Chinatown. There are big markets with cheap knockoffs. I get compliments on my $20 Prada top every time I wear it. There are vintage stores with $200 vintage Channel and big department stores with inexpensive merchandise galore. Soho may leave her visa steaming but it's worth a look event if it is out of budget range. The Meat Packing district is the next Soho.
The best thing about NYC is that you can wander around and always find places to duck in to shop. If she picks one planned event each day and leaves the rest of the day to get to and from that one event...it would make for a fantastic trip.
I agree with the previous post - you can purchase anything everywhere (on the streets, Chinatown, Midtown, Harold Square, Columbus Circle, Union Square, etc ....)
For fun shopping she can try some vintage stores (many located in Grammercy, 23rd and 3rd). Housing Works and Vintage are two of my favorites.
Also, she can find discounted designer clothes at Century 21
(It's a department store, but everyone loves it).
my vote goes to century 21.
i absolutely love it in there and can literally spend 5 hours in there, its huge! just when i was 'ready' to leave i discovered the handbag/sunglass room and couldn't believe i'd missed it.
definately not a good one for travelling lite!
and very good prices.
take a water bottle and a snack because if shopping is ever going to be a workout this is it!
Get off at the world trade centre subway stop and its just acroos the way, cant miss it.
