i just got a job offer for next summer in santiago. how cold will it be may-august? how tough will it be to get up into the mountains to ski for the weekends? also, what did you all think of santiago as a city? ive heard it has a bad reputation--whats up with that?
I answered in your other post. Santiago is a very nice city, I don't know what you meant by a bad reputation. It's nice and safer than other southamerican cities.
Skii resorts are awesome, easily accessed and modern, quite exclusive too. If you have a chance, go to Las Leñas in Argentina, or to Bariloche, but is pretty far.
From Santiago you get to Valle Nevado it´s two hours bus only. You can leave in the morning and come back in the evening after the slopes. Hotels in Valle Nevado or Portillo are really exclusive (means very very expensive)
Santiago is a nice south american capital but muy poluted.
