Hi, I'm looking for a place to book and would like a place that I can lock my 13" widescreen laptop in a safe box. Any recommendations? Tks!

Depending upon your budget the Cambodiana has room safes which are big enough for a laptop and you can get a room there on the internet for about $70US inc. b'fast. I also believe that the Riverside Hotel at the other end of Sissowath Quay has room safes.Cost there is about $40US per night inc. b'fast. Ive not stayed at the latter but you can easily check it out on the various websites. Both hotels are well located .

Leave you laptop at home!

Use an internet shop, if your laptop is stolen or you drop it - you will feel like crap! And keep in mind, it's not only the hotel staff you have to worry about - the fellow traveler in the room next door could also be a thief! (Don't trust anyone who didn't come over with you from back home!)

You can load a flash drive with (free) Firefox and keep lots of personal info on it - a flash drive fits in all safety boxes! You can also take a separate hard drive if you want, that will also fit in a safety box.

When I plug my flash drive into an internet shop computer it's almost like having my home computer with me. Surprising how much info you can get onto one of those thingies! My flash drive Firefox browser matches my Firefox browser on my big computer at home. I have the same favorites saved, same toolbar, etc. My chief worry is being temporararily senile and forget the damn thing in the internet shop.

Or you can spend big bucks for an expensive hotel that has a safe big enough to store your laptop, still hoping that you never drop it!

Happy New Year

Hey,
i just got back from Phnom Penh. i dont know of anywhere with safety deposit boxes big enough for a laptop but there is a cheap guesthouse called "Top Banana" near the Independence Monument that is on the 3rd floor and the gate on the ground floor is locked after 10pm. It was very safe. Might be an option.
Have an awsome time in cambodia, it's such a great place!
