Home page has nowhere to login, and there isn't anywhere to logout on any page.

When you arrive at the home page there is no way to check for messages.

There is no contact information to communicate with the webmaster/Travellerspoint staff.

Way at the top-right of the page are two tabs - one of them is "log in" or "log out" depending on if you're currently logged in or not.

As for a contact link, there's one way at the bottom of the page, immediately after "© 2002 - 2006 Travellerspoint Travel Community"

Oh, yes! Thanks. I couldn't see them for looking! But to a busy and impatient looker they ARE invisible. Why are these so UNobvious, I wonder?

Hmm, I didn't think they were that 'unobvious', but I guess it would make sense to include another link to the login page on the front page as well. :)

As for this one: "When you arrive at the home page there is no way to check for messages."

There is a link to the message center in the left hand navigation on every page. And the home page (when logged in) includes a message saying how many new messages you have. This is virtually the first text on the page in fact.

The position of the 'contact' page is pretty normal for any website. It's not something we want to make too obvious. We get enough strange emails as it is now

Thanks for the feedback though! We're always looking for ways to improve.

I suspect a lot of people (at least those who don't use Firefox and other decent browsers with banner blockers built in) have developed blindness for anything that's right at the top of a website, simply because there's almost always banners there.

It took me forever once to find the "Control Pannel" - I had to ask Isa to point it out. But they're in the most convenient place, once you find them! In fact, they're so convenient they knda blend right into the background at first.

It's wierd - I know those buttons are there, but I never use them. I always press "Home" and then control panel... Just doesn't feel natural to have buttons up there. I have used decent browsers for many years too.

I use them all the time... I definitely use the "log in" every 10 days when my cookies expire. Nothing worse than old used up cookies...

Honestly - it took me a bit to find them originally too. I was busy looking for them on the lefthand side where they were before the upgrade. Once you find them though - you never forget again... ;)

Hmm, maybe we just need to wack a banner up there and join the crowd

We were thinking of moving the message center icon (in a smaller format) up near the tabs as well actually. And potentially some other small icon links to 'private pages', ie photo upload, etc.. I wonder if just having those things there would draw more attention to the area and thereby also improve the ability to find the login tab.

I think that's a good idea - having a bunch of the "my" pages easily accessible would be quite good.
And maybe we could do some kind of an overlay upon registration, pointing clearly to these links (I'm thinking big green arrows or similar)?
