Hi, I'll be hitting Darwin around mid June next year and i'm thinking of doing some kind of organised trip to take me down to Ayres Rock via Kakadu/Litchfield parks, Devils Marbles, Kings Canyon etc
I've seen one through Adventure Tours Australia - Cloud 9 $995 AUD, 9 days inc all food, accom and park fees
Has anyone got any experiences of this or any similar trips?
Is it best to book in advance or cheaper to just turn up?
Any comments appreciated!!!
surely someone has done something like this?!?
Hi I am looking at doing the Oz experience which seems excellent value for money and takes in from darwin to ayres rock. there are various tours to suit your needs.
I have heard some very good reports on it but also a couple of not so good saying its full of under 20's and just one big party, but the good reports say you get to see LOADS and guides are really helpfull and good value.
Hope this helps.
Try and get one that takes in Katherine gorge...I din't go there, but everyone I spoke to goes on about how great it is. Whatever you do don't miss Kakadu, but you need a few days there because it is seriously enormous, and it take hours to travel around.
Actually, I went from Darwin to Alice in a car that we were relocating for a hire company, for $1 per day. bargain. There were a few of us and we camped along the way, at Ma-- something springs, and Devils marbles.
Thanks for the comments people!
I guess i'm just not sure whether to book something now or just wait til i get there?
I've been told June is peak season for northern territory, so tempted to book something - at least its all taken care of
Then again, would be cool to freestyle it - how does the camping work if you freestyle?!?!?
Any help in the next day or so would be really appreciated as i start my RTW trip next week!
i did a tour while i was in oz with connections adventures which i did from alice springs which did aryes rock & then up to darwin and it included all the national parks as well which i would recommed hope this helps you, but i think that there a few tour compaines which do tours of this kind
Kakadu and Ayers Rock are highlights of the northern territory but for many people the trip between the two is also exactly what they wanted to experience.
Those cheap budget tours do have a lot of younger people on them and you have to help set up camps and meals etc and help your guide driver.
If you were thinking of doing the cloud 9 tour I found a site that offers a discount.
There is also an option to go from Darwin to Adelaide and Melbourne on tour, long trip but worth it.
