I will be in Brussels for two weeks in January. I'd like to take a train (or whatever) and get a weekend of skiing in while I'm there. I'm an expert skier, but have never skied in Europe. As a point of reference, my favorite skiing in the US is Alta. I do not need luxury accomodations. Any suggestions for destinations that would be easy to reach from Brussels (and hopefully reasonabley priced)?
From Brussel you will have to get across to Germany, France or Switzerland for Skiing. Or for cheaper skiing Czech Repub or maybe Bulgaria.
However, if the winter is going to continue as strangely as it started, you won't find any snow in the lower German ski resorts; in that case, you'd have to travel to the higher resorts in France and Switzerland (but even they lack snow on most slopes right now).
