I'm working in Bangkok these days and will have about 7-8 days break right after xmas around new year's (around 25/12 - 3/1). I am thinking of doing somehing active and going to Malaysian Borneo for trekking.
Somewhere around Sabah-Sarawak-Kota Kinabalu would be pretty cool. Some of my ideas are:
- Trekking in rainforests
- Seeing the tropical wildlife
- Climbing to Kota Kinabalu
although I am open to suggestions.
I would proably think of joining an organized tour group with a guide or so. Most tours are for at least 2 ppl so I'd be interested to share it with someone. (male or female does not matter)
Let me know if you'd be interested.
I am sending you a PM (email & phone number) of a sarawak forestry corporation staff (driver)who in his free time, does rainforest trips for friends...His name is Andyson Sulang,a Berawan native, and was assisting me when I was doing conservation work for UNDP in Sarawak.
This is what he wrote to me recently:
Now I have 4x4WD to Belanah Rapid at long Atip,Long Bedian,Tenyok Rimba Resort,Mulu,Long Seridan,Long San,Asap longhouse at Bakun,Belaga,MT.Murud,Bakalalay and Bario.I also do the long trip start (sic) from Kuching until Sandakan Sabah for 23 days.I can also take people to Niah,Semukoi Homestay at Serian area(Remun ),Peliau Homestay at Bekenu,Mud Pool at Bukit Peninjau,Birds watching,Jungle trekking, kayak, white water rafthing, diving and paragliding.
I can't help you out with your current vacation, but I'm heading out to SE Asia for a year starting in March. I'm heading to Bangkok first and travelling from there, so if you're planning any short trips in the time there, I'd love to share such experiences with new friends.
