Hello Dutchie

I know it is difficult, to go to the police, about things like this. I can see why your friend would be reluctant.
U are experiencing a little of what she is worried about, with the reception u are getting here. Unfortunately, this can be the type of reception police give to women, when they report incidents, such as u describe. But things like this are too important to give up on. Encourage your friend more, to go to the police. Your support is what she most needs, to give her the courage. If the police have a complaint, against this guy already, it will make it easier, for the next woman, who makes a complaint, against him.

And dont contact the guy, yourself. He sounds dangerous. And he is unlikely to see the light, just because u have talk, with him.

she is in th US now, and there is not any evidence other than her account and her friend that was with her (with whom she no longer speaks). The Itlian police are not going to do anythign on the strength of a phone call from America.

You are right about hi not seeign the light. the details of the attack are partoicualrly ditressing. i just want people not to go there who might be at risk. I am a 6'2 man, don't worry about me -

Are you sure you didn't make that comment on yahoo? It was made by a dutch user and the writing sounds pretty similar.

Just to be clear; you were not in the building or anywhere near it?

I'm sorry if I come across terribly harsh, but yes, this kind of postings by competing properties happens a lot more than one can think of. Especially when it comes to ratings on sites like yahoo/tripadvisor etc. There have been studies showing that around 70% of those ratings are fake

if i was really hoaxing i'd have given up by now.

i have no name for the man that did this, just a description - it took a lot of work to even find out where it happened.

perhaps we could take this to personal message?

I would still contact the police, from the US.
Even if they cannot do anything, this time, the guy will become know to them. That is important, for if this happens to another woman.

I have been advised to contact the Rome police directly as foreign police have no jurisdiction.

Just give the Rome police a report on everything u know. Then leave it at that. If your friend wont talk with them that is all u can do.

lets be realistic

since it has taken so long for you to report it...then conviction is unlikely...rather than talking to us, you should be actually talking to the police!!! and seeking advice from them.

no supporting evidence is there!

if she was drugged, then its out of her system! she should have went straight to the hospital and then to the police or visa versa! then you could have built a case.

if this happened in italy and she is in usa, and you are making this claim, then she has to give a statement, its a serious offence! she would have to fly back to italy! she would need to remember dates, have supporting evidence that she actually stayed in that hostel etc...

this guy probably doesnt even work at the hostel anymore, you have no name, probably wont remember what he even looks like...etc

even if you flew back, saw the guy, and there was small evidence to support that he was with the girl, whos word is against whos? she could have consented? he could just say they were both drunk etc etc...

police will either say f-off, might do something about it unlikely, or need a witness at least!!! or evidence!

what they will do is a background check on this guy, if he has a record or has been accused of this kind of stuff before and by you, then this may not be the first time!

but lets be honest here...sitting around doing nothing and slandering a hostel because a guy works there isnt the way forward...

a bit like a murdered working for tescos...does that mean we shouldnt buy tesco products?

you get what i mean
