When I was talking to my friend that I wish to be a vagrant to travel around the world years later. Working for bread while traveling. But he says it's very difficult for a Chinese. He says Visa is a big barrier...It's impossible to get so many countries in visa...

I have no idea why I can see many foreigners do it the same, they can make a travel in China here and outside many countries. But why we as a Chinese just so difficul to make it . Do any one meet the same problem as me? Can any one tell me the reason and how can I reach my dream ?

Thank you ! ^^

I don't know the specific visa situation in China, but I suspect the travellers you see are always tourists - never people who actually stay and work in China.
Working holiday visas for people under 30 are always reciprocal between countries. That means, if people from one country are allowed to work in another, it works the other way around as well. So, everyone from almost any European country can easily get a visa for New Zealand and Australia and Canada, and Australians and kiwis and Canadians can easily work in Europe, but for example the American government is almost completely unwilling to enter into such treaties, and so people from the USA aren't allowed to work in Europe, and vice versa.

So, you should be able to travel as a tourist pretty much anywhere, but unless your government will change drastically and start entering into such treaties, you'll have to save up money at home. :(

You could theoretically get a regular (not just for young people) work visa for countries you'd want to travel to, but usually these are really hard to obtain, and you'd need sponsorship from a company there.

And yeah, this all sucks :/ - the entire world should just be open to everyone. *wishes idealistically*

'Sander' really hit a home run with his explanation. Work permits are reciprocal; our country will treat you as you treat us. China has only recently opened itself to the world and loosened its travel & work restrictions. It will be some years before Chinese citizens can legally work in many countries around the world. At least now your economy is booming and many Chinese citizens can earn enough to travel outside of China. It was not very many years ago when this was not true.

Hello Kathysmile

I think how easy it is for citizens of a country, to get visas and work permits, in other countries, depends on a countries relations, with other countries.

Also, it depends on the attitude of the authorities, in the country u are from. Sometimes they do not want their people to travel, so make it difficult.
I met a guy from Iraq, 8 years ago, when i was in Thailand. He had to pay the government of Iraq 200US dollars, for everyday he was outside Iraq.

And of course it also depends on how much your countries money is worth, in other countries and how much u can earn, in your country. If u come from a country with an unstable currency and wages are low, then foreign travel will be difficult or impossible for people from that country.

Thank you for all !!
Really appreciate for your advices! ^^

I think right now with the policy in China,it's impossible for me to get a long-term working visa outside China. And also, if I could in late years when the same policy opening to China, to get sponsorship from a company,it's also a problem. Can I just find a job after I get there? Anyway, I 'll work in that country I travel,I need a job for my food,my living place,my fly tickets & other things needed .^^

Anyway, I will see if there is any way out for me.

Any friends,if you are now making the same traveling thing ,welcome to share your idea, your experience or anything. ^^
