Computer Connectivity in Ireland

Travel Forums Europe Computer Connectivity in Ireland

Sorry if this is an elementary question .... I have a laptop bought in the US. I intend to take it to Ireland for the summer on business. I will be staying at a place that has wireless broadband access. Is there anything that I will need to do to my current laptop to make it compatible for Ireland? Obviously, there's a difference in the electrical current. I'm inquiring more about modems, etc., or any additional hardware that I might need to install in advance to get connected. Any advice to make sure that I'm connected when I get there?

Thanks in advance.

Presumably if it has a wireless card built into the laptop you will be fine! I would ask the manufacturer what in built connection capacity it has.

Hello pmoylan

My boyfriend knows some computer stuff, so i asked him your question.
He said the following,

No, I wouldn't know if network stuff is different in the States. Intuitively, I'd say it should work, but he'd be better off asking this of a more 'techy' forum, I think.

Thanks for the responses, folks. I can always count on the good people here checking things when I can't track down one thing or another. I appreciate the input.
