Hey all,
Can anyone help me out with info about the carneval? What events are best to see and how is it best to get tickets etc..??
Thanks!

You need to book a hostel. Like, NOW. It's hard to find accomodation in Rio during Carnival, and it's crazy expensive.

Apart from that, we didn't book anything in advance. Our hostel sold tickets to the Sambodron (the cheapest ones but they were allright) and arranged activities during the carnival week. If you want to get enganged in more serious stuff, like participating in one of the samba schools, or getting expencive fancy tickets, you might have to do some research and bookings in advance, but if you just want to hang out on beach- and street parties, dance through the night and just have fun, I wouldn't bother too much because you will get it all sorted out once you're there.

Have you tried googling on "carnival rio de janeiro"?

Good luck!

Thanks guys! Like I just said in another thread about the carneval, accomodation is pretty crazy expensive with the whole package deal things. All have accomodation available now which is good.
I'm not too worried about tickets to the shows, they seem not toooooo bad to get hold of. But still, any other ideas would be great!
