I am leaving for London in two days and would truly appreciate responses to the following questions:
a. Are Portobello market and Camden Market worth visiting on a Monday or Tuesday?
b.Is there a "luggage storage" place anywhere in central London?
c. Any ideas on phone cards for long-distance calls within the UK?
Responses would be much appreciated. Thank you.
I dunno about Camden Market on a Mon or Tues, the weekend is definately better as there are apparently 7 or so X more stalls in the market then. (Camden Market is the best - my old haunt over weekends ) I went to Portobello Market in the week, on a Friday to be exact, and it was fine. Hope you enjoy antiques cause thats about it at Portobello other than the small food market there.
Many train stations in London have left luggage facilities. I know London Victoria Train Station has facilities there, its not expensive either. Heres where you can get some info: www.tfl.gov.uk for info on station facilities etc.
You can purchase phone cards at all post offices (they are dotted around here and there), and I know that at London Waterloo East, platform A? there is a little tuckshop that sells phone cards and munchies, so what i am saying is that you should have no problem getting one somewhere. And there are plenty of phone boxes around to make calls!
Hope you have a fantastic time!!!
Thank you for your prompt response to my post. Very helpful. I will check out the link you sent me since I may have to leave a backpack at a luggage storage place on Tuesday. Now, another quick questions. Camden Market Vs Portobello? Which one should I pick if I had time only for one of them? I would appreciate it if you could let me know. Once again, thank you for your response.
Camden Market is a MUST! Portabello does not compare in my eyes!
Camden market is excellent however during the week it´s nothing to compare with the buzz of the week end.
