Hi, we're planning to spend about 6 weeks travelling from BK through Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia and back to BK but i'm unsure which way round to do it!
Would it be best to fly from BK to Hanoi and work back down or head north through Cambodia and fly back down to BK? Is there really any difference?!?!
Also with such limited time, any tips on places that should def not be missed would be appreciated!
I am going to suggest you go overland from BKK to Siem Reap. Angkor Wat is one of the 'must see' on your trip. Get the 3 day pass, then either boat/bus to Phnom Penh. About 3-4 days in PP for sightseeing, get your VN visa while there. You can get it in 1 day for $30. Bus or boat from PP to HCMC, takes about 8-9 hours. I would get the open tour bus($23-36) so you can stay as long as you choose in the cities on the way to HaNoi. HaLong Bay is also a 'must see' while in VN. I would choose DaLat over Mui Ne when heading north, cool, green & pretty. A Sapa tour should also be on the itinerary if you have enough time. Get your Laos visa in HaNoi while there. Bus from HaNoi to Lao border. I would suggest about a week in Cambodia, 3 weeks in VN and 2 weeks in Laos.
Drew, I have photos of most of this trip in my gallery. PM me if you have any questions or need additional details.
Well, maybe you can try apply your Cambodia Visa online at www.mfaic.gov.kh
