I am looking to spend about 5 to 10 days in the Amazon around the Iquitos area in early February but I have only found 1 or 2 sites offering lodges and trip in the Jungle and they seem a little pricey, $850 for 4 nights/5 days (with excursions every day).
Is $850 the going rate or is that steps? Would it be cheaper to sort this out when I arrive, instead of over the internet?
Any advise would be much appreciated.
You´ll find cheaper excursions at Iquitos, for sure!!
just found this while planing my trip to Peru.
It is the Website from the National Tourist Chamber of Peru.
on this site you will find very good infos about whole Peru, tours,
I try to be in Iquitos by midd Feb.07
Thanks for the tips! I am now getting very excited!!!
For sure, 4 nights in a 3 star hotel in Iquitos can not cost you more than 150 to 180 dollars. I don't know if there's anything cheaper, but El Dorado or Victoria Regia are around that rate. And from there you can book tours or ask for the cheapest transports. I'm sending you a message with a phone number where you can confirm and book if you want.
Just in case you want to check, there's a town called Pucallpa which is getting a lot of attention lately. And in Puerto Maldonado you can stay at lodges and pay around 450 dollars for a 9 or 10 days stay with tours and meals included.
