cently realised that it is too expensive and too difficult to make it to the ratanikiri province in cambodia, although i had my heart set on its natural beauty. In light of this, can anybody suggest anywhere else in cambodia, or indeed the rest of south east asia, that might make up for it?

Yes,it is so expensive to go to Ratanakiri by air - i.e USD100 one-way plus usd6 airport tax at PNH airport. (i myself no longer do that.)But going to Ratanakiri by bus is fairly reasonable in term of cost -it is just USD17.- fare and you enjoy a variety of Cambodian landscape along the 600 km ride - the most distance bus trip in the country. it is 13 hour ride. The bus leaves PNH at 6.15 am and arraive Ban lung around 7 pm. (The name of the bus company is Hua lian transport company.

try it.

I have sent you a PM on Rattanakiri.

Hey, Suwannaphu....were you holed up in Yaklom? So now they have a bus service to Ban Lung, ugh? I can imagine the ride!
