Travel Forums Asia accomodation in Cambodia and Bangkok during new year

Hi,
I'll be in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap from 28th Dec to 3rd of Jan,
and in Bangkok from 3rd of Jan to 6th of Jan.

I am sure that there are a lot of websites where I can book rooms online for these locations. But I am wondering whether New Year is a busy time of the year that it will be impossible to find place on arrival without prior booking?

I prefer to check out places listed in footprints or lonely planet, but most aren't available for booking onlines. Also sometimes I ask to check the conditions of the room before paying. That way, they will certainly let us preview the best rooms for the price that I ask.

Anyone knows whether I will have difficulty finding accommodations there by just crashing in?

You "should" be fine, I have done Christmas and New Year in Bangkok before, "turning up last minute" should be ok, I turned up about 3 years ago on Christmas Eve and had no problem at all, all though this was three years ago and Bangkok has become more and more popular there is also alot more Hotels their now, so don't worry.
My advice.... You will be fine though take a tent just incase!

I would book in advance for Siem Reap as it is normally pretty busy over the holidays especially if you have a place in mind. If you not bothered where you sleep then there is no need to book.

hmm... i thought I'm safe.. but you got me worried. I don't mind where I stay, but I'm going with 3 other friends. I'm worried that we might end up staying in different places because of space problem.. you think so?

I just noticed that you are from Cambodia, so I guess your worries are quite real.
