Hi,

In may 2007 we will go te Egypt, start in Cairo.
( we think to stay in New Palace hostel, is that ok, nice and clean?)
Then we will go to Luxor by night/sleep train . Can we easy do a reservation when we arived in Cairo or better to book already in the Netherlands? ( i think in Egypt it is cheaper, but are the tourist train in May full?)

In Luxor we like to stay in Golden Place hostel. ( ok, nice and clean??)

At least we like to go to the red sea for just 1-2 days. Is that posible from cairo or Luxor? ( save and not to far? we like a quit place)

Thanks.

The hotel looks clean and neath to me. You could always go to another hotel if you don't like it. I can recommend you another hotel in Cairo where I stayed a couple of times. Ismailia House hotel is on the 8th floor at the famous Tahrir square. The square is always busy. Room 805 is really perfect. It has a huge balcony (on the 8th floor) and gives the best view on the square, the Egyptian museum and even the nile. The room itself is OK, clean enough but without bathroom. The price is approx. LE60,- for a doubleroom (breakfast included). I advise you to go here and ask for room 805. If you want this room you need to book as far as ahead as possible(there are more people in line for this room). If you want their emailadres just send me a personal message. If you have the Lonely planet of Egypt, it is in there too;).

This summer I am allmost doing the same but just otherwise. Allready found out there is a bus from Hurghada to Luxor and a train from Luxor to Cairo.

You can take a train from Cairo to Luxor. This will take about 12 hours and cost aprox. 15 euros (first class ;-) ) Most tourist take the night train but since I want to see the country I take a day train.

From Luxor there is a aprox 4 hour bus to Hurghada at the Red Sea. This will cost about 5 euros and is totally save because escorted by the Military. Have read it is not allowed as a tourist to go without security.

From Hurghada you can take a bus back to Cairo with maby a stop at Suez where you can visit the Suez Canal.

Since I am going in june please let me know on this post your info as you go in may.
