Hi,
I was wondering if september is good month for travelling in Malaysia.
Also, is there any need to book domestic flights in advance, considering the time of year and the different low budget airlines like AirAsia and Berjaya. Are these airlines cheaper when you book months before?

Thanks, Michael.

Sept should be fine, monsoon rain starts October. Early booking should generaly be cheaper, esp since there are only small allocations of the really cheap flights and these are taken up early. have a good trip.

I travelled for a month in Malaysia from early September to early October and it was fine. With Air Asia it's definitely worth booking as early as you can - not sure about the other airline you mentioned.

Berjaya Air is a private airline where it only do commercial flights to selected islands such as Pulau Tioman, Pulau Redang and Pulau Pangkor from the old Subang Airport in KL and the Seletar Airbase in Singapore. It also do charter flights to other islands such as Koh Samui in Thailand.

Air fares are fixed for selected periods and not like Air Asia where it is purely on a demand and supply mode. They do have promotions, especially during the monsoon season from November to March.

Visit their website at: www.berjaya-air.com

Hi Michael,

I was there at the beginning of October and the weather was just fine. Something to look into though, and I'm not sure if this happens every year (or all over Malaysia for that matter), but KL and much of Borneo were enveloped with a thick haze from burning that takes place in Sumatra and other places in the region during that time. It had no effect on my enjoyment of Malaysia, but was a bit of a nuisance. It is so beautiful, I would have liked to have been able to see it more clearly!

September is not rainy season at all. The real monsoon usually starts in the time frame of between mid-October and mid-November.
