Manly is the best option for Sydney. The Northern Beaches are the nicest and Manly is close to everything. Lot's to do too.

Sydney weather is better too. Sydney is nicest Oct - Apr

I'm a kiwi girl who's lived in melbourne before and really liked it. By the way, yes the weather can be a bit unpredictable, but it hasnt been 38 degrees lately like suggested in an earlier reply!!

melbourne wins hands down. its cultural feel just dosnt compare to any other city in the world. sydney is a global city but has a reputation of an "up yours" and "fuk off" attitude. melbourne is more relaxed and is great for sporty people. it's stadiums are like giants compared to sydneys homebush ground in da middle of no were. sydney is a nice place to visit, but if your making a living somewe: it's MELBOURNE!!!!!!

If u want beaches and sun Just go to Perth and southwest WA has beaches beta then Sydney , Melbourne and the Gold Coast Plus they are way less crowded and Perth is sunner and warmer than both Sydney and Melbourne. Plus its not full of snobs with a 'fuk off' attitude just happy for ne1 who makes the effort to come here. Just dont expect to get a taxi.
