Hi everyone! I am in OZ at the moment and am leaving at the end of January for Singapore. My next flight is from Hong Kong so I am overlanding everything in between on my own.
I have some books about the places but would like to hear from you guys any routes you might have taken, experiences or possibly places to avoid etc. I dont think I will do much of the middle of Thailand, was thinking of doing the south and going across via Ko pan yang, Ko Samui to Cambodia then back into the north after Loas and Vietnam for instance.
After that I am flying to Tokyo, and going around Japan for a couple of weeks (as i hear its quite expensive) then back to Bejing overland to Hong Kong again them off to India, Phew. So any suggestions there would be cool too.
Thanks very much for any help, Happy New Year
Sorry forgot to mention I wil be leaving from Hong Kong around the end of May, so I've got about 4 months.
If I were doing this route it would go something like:
1st month: Singapore to Bangkok via Malaysia (two weeks) and a couple Thai Islands (two weeks).
2nd month: Cambodia (two weeks) and Southern Vietnam (two weeks).
3rd month: Northern Vietnam (two weeks) and Northern Laos (two weeks).
4th month: Into China from Laos to see Yunnan (especailly Dali and Lijiang) and Yangshuo, and on to Hong Kong.
With only 4 months you will have to cut something out since there is so much to see along the way. Since I've included Laos in the itinerary, I figure the first thing I would cut out is Northern Thailand since it is similar, and doesn't fit into the route all that well.
That's great, thanks mate.
