Hi,
I'll be in South America from about mid February to mid April of 07. I was thinking of visiting Peru, Chile, Argentina and finally Brazil. I was wondering if anyone knew of any interesting and eventful festivals that will be taking place in these countries during these two months. Thank you!

In Argentina you can also go to the "Gualeguaychú Carnival", which is the most important one in our country.

Gualeguaychu carnival's very nice; I recommend it!

It's a pity you won't be there in SA spring; BsAs hosts an interesting folklore festival (for free), and also there is the tango championship in August. But you might be able to catch the tango festival, which is from feb 24th - march 4th. VERY recommendable; more info here

have fun,
Niels

Let me add the "Festival Internacional de la Canción de Viña del Mar", Chile, in February. A big event of Latin Music, I think that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony will be there this year. The most popular local musicians perform every summer.
So far you have Folklore, Tango, Carnival "batucada", and Latin Pop & Rock! Have fun
