How's it goin?
I'm getting married in September and I've left most the wedding plans to my beautiful fiance as a bargaining tool so that i can plant the honeymoon.
What I'm hoping for is a 2 week trip, with the 1st week active and the 2nd week relaxing.
We both went on the Peru hike, bike and raft trip and loved it, although whereas I felt like doing the whole thing again the the day we finished, my girlfriend definitely needed some pampering.
I've considered the Kilimanjaro trek for the 'active' week, but I'd like to know how it compares to the Inca trail for physical endurance.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Although I haven't done any of the hikes, from what I heard the Kilimanjaro trek is really tougher and there are more people comparing to the Inca trail who don't make it to the top.
Unlike the Inca trail, you really need a very good physical condition and some practicing before you go.
And of course there is, more than the Inca trail, altitude sickness. Take a really good organisation.
If you want to be active in that region, but something more 'softer, try a Gorilla and Chimpansee trekking in Rwanda/Uganda/Eastern Tanzania, in combination with Zanzibar for example...just some thoughts.
I think I'll look at the 'softer' options as you suggested.
Maybe I'll save Kilimanjaro for a mid-life crisis.
Please in your plan do not forget to relax a little bit in the Sopa lodge's in Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.I am sure Balloon Safari will give you a very memorable time in your life.Do not forget Sadani Beach in Tanzania.Make sure you book this for your honeymoon.
