I am looking for information on the best way to get from bangkok to hat rin for july 1st. i am planning on leaving taipei on june 30 but there seems to be some sort of conspiracy against me finding a decent flight and such (getting to bangkok is not a problem...but the rest remains a mystery to me).
Thanks for any help!
Just get to any travel agent in BK (I liked the one just by the railway station) and ask for them to get you to Koh Phanghan. Any of them should be able to do it - will be a bus down to a port somewhere, then ferry over. Avoid all the crap the touts try about where to stay - as long as you're there a few days early you should be ok for accom in Hat Rin as long as you're not too picky. Anywhere out of Hat Rin is a long, bumpy road away.
See you there 2nd August!
there aren't many flights to Koh samui from bangkok and when fullmoon party comes , it's usally fully booked away in advance. esp in July n August as it is a peak season. If you can't catch a direct flight to Koh samui, you may try to transit in Phuket..the fare is slightly higher but worth it if u haven't been to Phuket before.. maybe stop over there for a day or two to spend ur time there before heading to Koh samui.
another option is taking bus to Koh Samui. There's a direct bus from Bangkok to Koh Samui jetty..uh..the jetty name is Don Muang if i still remember correctly.. (sorry..forgotten..) but journey is very tiring since the road is not even..so better be prepared!! n plus dun forget to bring a blanket or jacket to cover up it tends to be cold in the bus.
have a nice journey
