An idea if you have any money at all would be to get your way to Surfers Paradise in Queensland, because everytime I have gone there, they have had help wanted signs up in almost every single shop in town and in all the big shopping complexes. So I doubt very much at all that you'd have problems picking up a job there and in quick time. A lot of the younger generation up there are too lazy to work in Surfers Paradise, with the fantastic weather and nice beaches there to be used. So instead a lot of young women spend their days getting tanned and some day a skin cancer at the beaches and a lot of the guys are out there surfing. It may be cheaper if you could get a flight from Melbourne-Brisbane on Jetstar or Virgin Blue and then get the train from Brisbane airport-Surfers Paradise. Only use that as your last resort though, because the cost of getting up there if you are already running very low on funds, may go over your available limit seeing you'd need to go there soon instead of booking a couple of months in advance which is how you get the cheap tickets.

Goodluck with your job searching.

Well, We have one peice of advice for you. MOVE ON! we were in Melbourne for a month and when we couldnt find work we left for Sydney. My Girlf and I started work 1 week after leaving! we earn $1000 a week between us and should be able to travel on in three months or so.... if you cant afford the plane fare, Greyhound was cheap and you could always advertise for a lift in hostels etc.
