I think darts is most popular in Netherland and Britain. At this moment is the Lakeside world darts championships. It is not a sport but I think those guys are amazing. Throwing three darts in the triple 20, regurlarly. Or those finishes in the doubles under huge pressure. I think its great to see. My darting skills are almost zero though. Anyone else interested?

I can't say I have ever seen a professional dart match, but it sounds interesting! It can't be any more boring to watch than golf or poker and I like those too. We used to play with another couple at the local bar when we'd meet for dinner, but haven't done that in awhile. We get together at the end of the month - maybe we should start playing again... Too bad the local networks don't carry such events as I would check it out.

Golf and poker are really boring to watch, don't start about that. But a good darts match is great and spectacular. But also the ambiance is great, its just a huge pub. There are many supporters. There is lot's of beer. Even the dartplayers are drinking beer during the match. That makes it interesting to watch.

I play darts myself in Holland, first division, so I watch it very regularly. And tonight is an important night for me as well, because Niels de Ruiter, a friend of mine, is playing. He's from around Utrecht as well (Nieuwegein). But he is playing the Wizard of Oz, Simon Whitlock, so he will be having some difficulties I think.
Final will be Adams-Whitlock!

Darts? Are those the little pointy things you throw across the room? Kidding......

My brother and I used to throw quite a few when we were kids, although eventually, we'd wind up throwing them at each other. Even had a Richard Nixon face dartboard....not regulation, but the nose was worth 50.

We used to have a set of "Jarts", basically lawn darts. Much larger, and not quite as sharp, you would toss them across the lawn and try to land in a circle 10 or 20 meters away. They've since been outlawed here.....too many brothers throwing them at each other, I think....I can still hear my mother saying "Don't do that, you'll put your eye out!!!

I used to have a dart board in my room when we lived in Holland and played it ALL the time. Haven't played it much since being in Australia. One day I'll find a good spot for one and stick it up again.

Kudos to anyone who can throw 3 triple 20s in a row.. That takes something

My sister and I used to have a set of those. They were great at the country place, but not so practical in the city. Either you held back too much or else one would fly right over the fence. Come to think of it, I believe my parents still have that set in the shed... Anyone for an illegal game of lawn darts?

Actually, if you practice a lot, it has nothing to do with aiming, it's just a natural feeling

By the way, do you watch the Australian guy (simon Whitlock) over there in Australia, or is it not on tv or in the news at all?

First division of darts, impressive. How many 180's do you throw in an average match, Michael? I played a lot of darts a few years ago. I guess I never got very good. I am not blessed with a lot talent. But the longer you practice the more feeling you get (when you stop, the feeling also dissapears). That is the difference with the talented dartsplayers. I think I threw 4 times in my life a 180. That where fantastic moments.

Yeah, I have same experiences with my brother. The last time we played darts together, the darts got out of the window in a fit of frustration.
