Hi,

This is my first time travelling and I'm completly clueless! Just wondering if you could tell me if this sounds ok....

I'm heading to Asia first for 6weeks and then onto Australia and New Zeland for the rest of the year (leaving next tues yeah!).

I have a Berghuase backpack 55L+15L and this is what i've packed...

Pair of walking runners, 1 pair flip flops , 1 pair slip on shoes (night time etc), pair of black 3/4 length pants, denim skirt and 2 tops. (buying rest of clothes there). Have loads medicines etc, adapters, money pouches, 2 bottles sunscreen.

Does that seem ok? Anything else major im forgetting? Sorry about the typo's! Appreciate any advice at all!

Thanks a mil

A

Though this more of a question for females I will try my best. So far you sound like you are on the right track. No matter how little I bring on a trip it is too much. So you have the right approach. I would take only what is necessary, as you have stated. Maybe a quality jacket, and rain jacket. From there buy what you really need. It is very cheap in Asia. If you are going to spend a lot of time in the warmer areas of OZ and NZ you will need nothing more than your skirt, a few tank tops, and some flip flops. Hope this helps. Damn I am jealous. Enjoy. If you need any help at where to go in OZ or NZ just contact me and let me know. Brent

Hi there,

Am also new to the whole travelling thing but it was suggested I take something like http://www.shop-com.co.uk/op/~Lifesystems_Expedition_Sterile_First_Aid_Set-prod-9355562-35797891?sourceid=309 with me as if emergency treatment is needed could make all the difference (any pack with an I.V. Cannula (Drip Needle) and Hypodermic Needles & Syringes is what i was told)
Also depending where in Asia and what class of place you are planning to stay then I’ve also been recommended to get a impregnated mosquito net (I am going around that region for several months and will be roughing it).

Cant think of anything else i've been told at this point, my brain is on information overload!

Hi aom,

A few years ago, there is a thread discussing what to pack for travels.
We have compiled in a list the items suggested by members.
See Tools > Packing List

There is also a list of tips on how to pack your things.
See Tools > Packing Tips

Hope that helps. :)

Hi guys!

thanks for all the advice sorry i didn't get back to ye. In bangkok at the mo and all im gona say is i brought WAY too much :( can barely carry it. The stuff out here is fab so im gona ditch half the stuff i brought (too heavy for the heat).

Advice for future travelers:

Bring LOADSA mosquito repellent (im being eaten alive!!)

Don't forget your mosquito net.

Def invest in travel sheets (have gotten a blank about the name sorry!). They're sheets sewn together into a sleeping bag. Best investment you'll ever make!!!

Actually, i disagree with that slightly. BUY loads of Mozzie repelent in BKK when you get there, as it is much cheaper than in Europe (there are Boots, Watsons etc stores in BKK, plus lots of otehr places to get it)
