If you dont mind me asking, which ticket did you get from STA? they told me I needed a One World 4 Continent one and that I couldn't go to south america without going to north america... or something (2 hours in I was getting slightly overwhelmed and confused).

Hey, well i was on this site the other day searching

and it said that it was an STA approved page. So we took that into sta and they pretty much went from there, we made a couple of changes (bali to darwin rather than sydney) and (sydney to christchurch rather than auckland) but overall it was what it says on the above web link. As i say it came to £1400 including tax (which is slightly more than we wanted to pay but was our ideal route so we took it)

wicked, thats great, its similar to what they recommended me, but with australia etc instead of north america. I'm sure the guy said that I couldnt get out of south america without going to north america, hmmm. Just when I think I've cracked it I come accross something and have to jump back a few steps in my planning! Thanks very much! And your trip sounds ace - my mum and dad used to have a camper van, with a wheel on the front and everything, it was pretty cool!

For info, the RTW ticket that STA have sorted for me cost £1736 and goes as follows:

BA 247 LHRGIG 2145 0800 london - rio de janeiro
LA 833 SCLIPC 1705 2025 santiago - easter island
LA 833 IPCPPT 2125 2320 easter island - tahiti
QF3826 PPTAKL 0140 0535 tahiti - auckland
QF 310 CHCSYD 0645 0810 christchurch - sydney
QF 139 PERCGK 2040 2359 perth - jakarta
QF 29 HKGLHR 0740 1320 hong kong - london

Don't know if that helps! I think it's the Easter Island and Tahiti stops that have put the price up a bit.

that sounds awesome too i really want to go 2 easter island!! how much spending money are you planning on for your trip??

7. Posted by cde3879 (Full Member 142 posts) 10y

Haha well that is something I am puzzling about! I don't want to work while I'm away so I'm budgeting £10k for the lot which should see me through as long as I don't spend too much time on Tahiti! :)

does that include your ticket?? im aiming for 7 at the moment and the ticket is paid off. Goin to be working for 6 weeks which should sort me out for the last month's spending money in Oz.

No I've not included my ticket in that but the only reason I'm allocating so much just for spending is because I don't want to come back home to any debt! It's inevitable I know but I want to do my darndest not to :)

hi - i too am leaving in 3 months or so on RTW trip for 12 months (itenary already posted) and have £10k total including tickets. I intend on working sometime in Oz to save money. Only other piece of advice i can give is do not buy insurance from STA without shopping around as i have checked other companies and can make savings of £100 - £150. every little helps ;).
