Only 8 days...where in S. America?

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Only 8 days...where in S. America?

I am a solo woman traveller looking into visiting one country in S.America in late March, but am limited on time. I keep on changing my mind on where....thought about Buenos Aires(top of my list probably), Rio, Santiago, etc.... I'm very open to suggestions on the must-sees within reach of these cities and any tips, as I am also concerned about safety.

Thanks!

You don't seriously consider flying that far for just 8 days, do you?!

Terribly polluting; why don't you stick somewhat closer to home, like the Carribean? I've heard it's wonderful...

That said, if you have just 8 days, my vote would go to BsAs.

Cuzco and surroundings for sure!

I did a trip to Peru with taking 5 days off the late august. I spent 2 days in Cuzco, hiked the inca trail, a day in Aguas Calientes, then one more day in Cuzco and finally home. I really enjoyed the trip and even though more time would be great it was enough. So if you dont spent 4 days on the trail you will have plenty of time. Other than the airfare from NY it was a cheap trip.

Yessss, perhaps Cuzco. I've been wanting to visit nearby Machu Picchu also! We'll see....

Thanks for both of your advice. And Utrecht, replying to your comment about pollution, the plane will leave with or without me on it(LOL).

Have a wonderful rest of your day!

Until people like yourself stop using that as an excuse, they will...

Hi Anywhere!
If you finally go for Cuzco, which you won't regret, after doing the inca trail you can go to Puno and Lake Titicaca (7 hours bus ride) or Arequipa (10 hours bus ride). Just in case you want to visit more than one city.
Buen viaje!

your top priority is Rio De Janeiro, i`ve been to about 70 countries of the world, Rio is Unique there is no city like that in the world, SP is boring really, after 2 weeks for me it was no different than new york, if you have archetchural vision and taste you will find it even ugly :)
And I`d recomend Buenos Aires, 1 day there is enough though.
