Carnival and accommodation in Salvador

Travel Forums Central/South America & The Caribbean Carnival and accommodation in Salvador

Hola to all

I'm travelling from the UK with the intention of celebrating carnival in Salvador. I've had some friends in the UK busily looking for accommodation for a week there, whilst I've been travelling elsewhere, and the best they've managed to find is around 720 pounds for one week of accommodation. I'm not yet sure whether this includes the tickets for the carnival itself but, although I know this is the peak season for Brazilian tourism, am I right in thinking this is a bit steep?

I'm interested to hear, as I don't want to get fleeced on the first leg of my four months of travel in South America.

Thanks!

- Paul

That's a 100 per night?!?! Yeah, that IS a bit steep...

Did a quick check on hostelworld.com, and found bunks for as little as 10 euros per night...

Try to contact Marcelo Zahar in Brazil. In brazilcarnival.net or traveldm.com you'll find many ways to get in touch with him. He's been working with carnival deals for a long time and always seems to have a clue, and other contacts.
Good luck!
