I've actually been camping in the Adirondaks and as you said it's breathtaking! I don't know if you wanted to go there again, but that's definitely somewhere I'd go back. I don't know what campground you camped on, but we were on the Alpine Club of Canada campground, which was a really nice place. But my ultimate camping trip would definitely be camping in the Grand Canyon. That would be the mother of all camping trips! But that's just my suggestion (for camping in the US).

Roy,
I live in the NYC area now, and agree that the Adirondacks are nice. This might be too far away for you, but I actually grew up in Alaska, if you are interested in hearing about places there I'd be happy to give you a few ideas.
My favorite place in the Adirondacks is Rollins Pond - canoes brought to your campsite - one of my favorite places on the planet. Unfortunately, don't think I will make it there this year.
THANK YOU FOR THE REPLIES,IT HAS BEEN NICE TO HERE FROM U.WHERE I WILL GO CAMPING IS A SURPRISE TO ME AS WELL,SO MANY CHOICES.
Thanks again,
Roy - NYC
I am currently living in Utah, (on my way home to upstate NY this coming august). I also lived the last 4 years in NYC, and have been camping a few great places about 2 hours north of the city, in Ulster County. There's a nice little hike i do about 2 times a week when i'm home, and you can go "peak" to "peak" and camp up on the mountain, with some great views of the hudson valley. Check out a map to find saugerties, (the approximate location of Overlook Mountain) and if you want directions, i'd be glad to let you know where it is, or even come hiking/camping with you sometime up there. North lake, and Kaaterskill Falls are also nearby, with great hiking, but the camping isn't all that great (all campground-site camping)
