Despite all the excuses coming out, i think Portugal were by far the better team, and went for it. I don't think Englkand actually tried to sit back and defend, rather they just could'nt get the ball to even try and attack. Hopefully, life should be a little more bearable now!

A Fantastic match.

Think France will go through tonight, but it will be tight. All still go here though, as Czech (money on), Sweden (live here) and Denmark (just round the corner) are all still going. Also lived in Netherlands before, and have some Dutch friends here, so happy for them as well.

Goalkeepers scoring the winning penalty in sudden death is not particularly uncommon either - i was more intrigued by the fact he wasn't wearing gloves for the shoot out, and saved Vassell's with his bare hands.

oh yeah i'd forgotton about the glove part, that was pretty cool, though I don't think Vassell is a good player anyway........

In fairness, the Dutch ahad already used all their luck up - they rarely looked convincing, and got to the semi's winning a grand total of 1 game, and that was against Latvia. Hopefully the old guard will all go/be pushed, and the youngsters cam come through properly - They have HUGE potential, but it's unlikley to be properly realised until Advocaat goes.

Many congrats to Greece. Disappointing for the Czech's as they've been the best footballing team through out (and i had money on them), but Greece have fully deserved their place. They've made the most of ther squa and beaten host and holders (first time ever happened in Euro or WC), plus a draw with 2nd favourites Spain, and then beating the late tournament favs the Czech's.

Would be great for football if the did win overall, but I have a feeling that becuase Portugal have already lost to them, they will be really out for revenge, and not take them at all likely. Won't be easy, but think home crowd will carry them to win.

So you can all laugh later, my prediction is Portuagl to win 2-1 on a silver goal

For me I also think Portugal are going to win but at 1-0.............. I think Greece are good defenders but I don't think that they could pull back if they had to chase Portugal to regain a goal.........sorry..... according to one of my colleagues I'm supposed to support Greece because they're the under dogs like Ireland...........ehemmmmmm I don't agree !!!

I'm bummed to not see a single american in this post (bummed, but not surprised). Being that i basically live in the middle of nowhere, Utah, the best i've gotten is updates from my brother in NY, and an occasional website score update. I would have liked to see the dutch make it thru (although i haven't got a clue what happened in the semifinal yet, i'll have to read up online.) I may have to drive a few hours and check out Greece in the final though. I can't believe i've lived in an area without a single soccer player for the last 11 months, it's killin me.

Jeramie, you have my sympathies. I can really only come up with one suggestion to solve your problem, and it ain't really that helpful - move to Europe

Final of Euro 2004

Portugal vs Greece

Two Germans in the final..... the ref and the trainer of Greece.

It'll be interesting to see what happens on the close calls.

It's actually better than that - apparently they go back about 25 years!!

However, doubt it will be a big factor as Merk has even sent Rehhagel off in the past...
