Hi all

Any suggestions re which would be the best quidebook for China (or more specifically for Guanxi province)?

I would normally choose Lonely Planet, but it seems to have a fair few negative reviews on Amazon, just wondering what other peoples experience has been...

Maybe not very helpful. But I would go everywhere with a lonely planet guidebook. Also to China. I think the guide is just high standard. I woulnd't care a lot about reviews. I know they are good

I don't have any ideas for the tour guide in English. Maybe you can try ctrip.com to find some helpful infomation about China, which is the largest travel service website in China. BTW, the website has its English version.

I have come across a few which I personally feel are informative.
1. China (Eyewitness Travel Guides) by DK Publishing
2. The AA Explorer Guide: China

There's also alternatives to Lonelyplanet: Fodor's and Frommer's.

I was really happy with the Lonely Planet: Southwest China. Doesn't seem like its still being printed though so it looks like you'd have to buy the whole book. I had the Let's Go to China originally and hated it. I've never had a more inaccurate book in my like and so I got rid of it pretty quick and got the lonely planet which I was much happier with.
