Maybe planning a trip to Belize in August. Has anyone traveled here or in neighbouring countries in the rainy season and how bad (or not) is it?
Thanks, Michael.

Hey... i grew up in Belize....
the rainy season is reallynot that bad....
rains, but doesn't rain or pour all day....
just for a few hrs... that kind of thing...

the only problem you encounter is more in the south and on dirt roads... belize still has alot of dirt roads and this can make for transportations delays or difficulties, but belizeans are soooooo used to this stuff....

San Ignacio area in the south west near Guatemalan boarder is where the most rain and sometimes floading....

but, overall, the rainy season is chill... just have to think about dirt road difficulties... that is really the only thing....

write me with any more questions....
where in belize are you going?

Thanks Angelina.
I've read that dengue in particular is a problem in the rainy season and last years there have some serious outbreaks.

I don't know yet for sure which parts, just want to have a mix of temples, jungle and beaches. Might visit Tikal in Guatemala as well. San Ignacio, is that the place on the main route to Guatemala?

What is the best maya site to visit in Belize, Lamanai or Coracol?
Cheers, Michael
