This thread is marked as being about Philippines

Hi everyone. I want to go to Philippines this year for the first time. But I'm limited in money to travel all the Philippines in order to find a place I'm looking for. Could someone tell me where in Philippines I can find very nice diving, preferably with deep diving opportunities and a lot of night life- dance clubs with good music (rap/hip hop/techno type- not karaoke).

Also how expensive is it compared to Thailand/Malaysia/Indonesia? I'm a Divemaster. I would like to do my IDC in Philippines. And if possible work in a diving industry there for some period of time before and after the IDC. Anyone knows if its difficult to obtain a working visa?

I appreciate any feedback to any of this.

If you're looking for diving and nightlife, check out your options on Boracay. I recommend Calypso Divers as a great place to do your IDC. Its a rather heavily-touristed island, but definitely a lot of fun with a variety of dive sites, including a number of deep dives.

Also how expensive is it compared to Thailand/Malaysia/Indonesia? I'm a Divemaster.

Beer is cheaper in the P.I. Hotels are more expensive than what you will find in Thailand. When everything is compared equally (A/C, Hot Water, TV, private toilet/bath, security box, etc.) I think the hotels in Manila are almost double what you find in Thailand. You can still find cheap places but they offer fewer goodies than what you get in Thailand. But the beer is cheaper!

In the boonies somewhere you may still get a good deal, I never found any that I thought was better in price than Thailand (or Laos for that matter.)

I think the food prices were about the same in both places. Using bus travel and jeepneys are okay. Busses are crowded and often the passengers bring everything into the seating area (afraid of theft??)

Hey there, I am from USA, but I live in Cebu, Philippines, and I'm not too much into diving (yet) but from what I have heard Cebu has great diving.

And the nightlife there can be great aswell, I'm a nightowl so the club "Pump" is great, it stays open VERY late (6-7am) and there are a few other decent clubs, Sunflower, and Halo, and also a few casinos if you like that kind of thing (I love lol)

If you go, have fun and good luck!!!!!
