I spent my 30th in thailand on the beach and i got my massage a manicure and pedicure and had some red snapper for dinner on the beach in the moonlight with my b'friend and then the locals put those laterns into the air and then there was fireworks, obviously not for my birthday but it felt good, and we meet some fellow irish men and went on the piss with them and they sang a very interesting happy birthday song to me. Also my birthday is at xmas and i share it with my mum, so xmas gone i spent it with my mom and we went to an asian restaruant it was't thailand but it was good to spend it with her and my family and we got two ice cream cakes each with candles and everyone in the restaurant sang happy birthday.. happy memories

My fondest birthday memories have been when family and close friends were present, so the highlights would have to be my 21st(my parents offered me a choice of a fancy party or a fancy stereo - I still have the stereo - and we had a party in our house anyway) and my fortieth, the year I finally threw caution to the winds and took the plunge - I decided to travel. My only flight until then was a one hour trip to London and back one weekend. For my second flight I chose a 12 hour trip to Singapore. So, for me, in one regard, life really did begin at 40

I'd say the original one was the best one - afterall it got me here. And what an exciting day! Darkness to light, a bunch of strange people huddled around me showering me with love. No expectations except sleeping and pooping. Ah, the good old days. Okay, I don't remember any of that, but I bet it was pretty sweet.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to you!!!

Hi, This is my first post on the forums, I discovered this website a couple of weeks ago, but have been lurking.

Last month (December) I decided to take a trip, I was going to turn 50,and figured I had been home for the previous 49 , so it was time be overlooking some impressive scenery in western USA.

The plan was to be in Moab, Utah on the day, but we doodled around too much on dirt roads in Wyoming and South Dakota to make it to Moab.

Planning to be In Jackson, WY for birthday eve, the weather turned us back (snowstorm in the Tetons) we discovered the Hot Springs in Thermopolis Wy. We found super off season rates at a very nice motel with a natural hot spring tub just outside of our room. The lady at the desk gave me another $10 off when she heard my birthday wish of being somewhere beautiful.

We soaked, peeling the years back, and then slept very well in a king size white bed. It was a very special way to wake up 50 years young.

We continued on to Moab, and toured a lot of Colorado, before returning home 3200 miles of pretty scenery, and back roads,it was a great trip and a great way to bring in the 2nd half of my century.:)

here is a link to the pics of the trip

A long long time ago, I celebrated my 18th birthday scuba diving the barrier reef around Heron Island. We were out there for 6 days and at no point in those 6 days was there a cloud in the sky.

More recently, I enjoyed my 40th in Morocco. I think it was special because I was travelling with one of my favorite travel companions who paid for me to spend half a day being pampered in a hamas in Marrakesch
