Can anyone advise/have experience with 'Handspan' and/or '' for a group of about 15 senior adults wanting to do some kayaking in Halong Bay, cycling in the Sapa region etc.
Any comments would be most appreciated. Perhaps suggest other agencies?

I met 'Phu' at Nha Trang, again in DaLat, again in HCMC. We were both heading south on the open tour last Feb. We still e-mail each other. Phu worked as a guide for Handspan. He is smart, perfect English and well travelled in SEA. He has lead tours to Cambodia & Thailand that I know of. Contact 'Handspan' and see if you can get Phu to guide your group. His full name is;
Nguyen Van Phu. Good luck with your adventure.

I have used Handspan several times and they were great.

Very professional travel company and great tours/guides etc.

Sorry haven't heard of the other!

Good luck!

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions - unfortunately Phu is no longer a guide but thats OK.
Also, any hints on what not to miss in Halong Bay or surrounds - we are doing a 3 day/ 2 night kayak trip there, plus the 'Hill Tribe' trek..
I read somewhere that Cat Ba Island (?) has some interesting water cave formations or somesuch???

"Hanspan" is a great company for adventure tours throughout Vietnam. I booked 2 tours with them for my first trip to Vietnam in 2003 ( 1 tour to Northwest of Vietnam, and 1 to Hoa Lu-Tam Coc) and it was nice. However, I can have another suggestion for you, try "Indochina Holiday Travel". They offer excellent tours to Halong Bay with cheaper price than "Hanspan" ( actually they have various options). I booked a tour to Halong bay with them last summer and can't wait to November this year for another tour with them to Cambodia and Southern Vietnam. You can contact Ms. Kim Tham. She is very good source of information for your travel plan. Sorry, I don't know her full name.

Enjoy your trip

If you book with Indochina Holiday Travel, try to get Mr.Ban to be your tourguide. Highly recommend. He is very experienced with 9 years of experience. He guided my group last summer. Excellent!
