Hi lngyn, to answer ur questions:
1) Can i know if it is alright to bind it like a book so it is easier for the ECO to read.?
- NO, because they will arrange it in a particular way which is easy for their reference. Also, some of the items that u submit may not be relevant, so they will put it aside. They will ask u for documents 1 by 1, so just give them what they asked for.

Hello,
I'm a Malaysian and recently got my WHM visa. Am arriving in London on 5 Sept.
When you get to Heathrow Airport and go through customs, is it straightforward or has any of you faced problems? Do they require us to show any documents? Is there a need to show proof of medical checkup?
Just asking because a friend mentioned that some Malaysians face 'a difficult time' at customs.

Hien, and 'experienced' ones like yourself, please advise?

Thanks.

for my case, i was quite surprised there is no officer in the custom, i just went straight out. as malaysia is one of the epidemic controlled country, the office required me to have a x-ray checkup to confirm my health condition.

all the best and dont worry too much

just be confident and dont wear sunglasses and jacket, it will make you look suspicious

I think jo81 actually meant the immigration and not the customs.

As you're entering on a WHM visa (which allows you to work here), they know that you're fine for entry and will not give you a hard time, unlike to some Malaysians who tried to enter on social visit pass for illegal employment. The immigration officer would, however, ask you a few basic questions or make a small chat with you. Make sure you have accommodation arranged (friends/hostel) and have the address ready as you'll need it for the immigration card. If someone is to meet you at the airport or wherever, make sure you have their contact number with you. In other words, be prepared.

After that, you'll be asked to go to the health quarantine section (just next to the immigration) to take an x-ray scan. The time I arrived, the x-ray machine was out of order. So I was given a card to schedule an appointment for a scan at a hospital near wherever I was going to stay.

Simon,

Thanks for the style advice... will try not to look like Dick Tracy. ;)

Hien,

Alright, I'll get my address ready. Regarding the x-ray scan, did you have to pay for that scan at the hospital?
Would it make more sense for me to get my own x-ray done and carry the scan results with me? And if I did, I just need to do a basic chest scan right?

Cheers.

Hi Esthernity,

You know what, I'll be arriving about 6am so I'm really hoping those officers will still be in bed. Thanks for sharing!

Cheers.

Don't bother doing it in Malaysia. They don't charge you here.

Actually, in my case, they didn't even send me for a scan. I went there, they gave me a jab on my lower arm and asked me to return two days later to see if there was any reaction on the skin area. There wasn't any reaction and they said I didn't need a scan. This is some kind of a pre-test for TB and saves cost on having to scan unnecessarily, but cannot be implemented at the airport because it takes a couple of days to see the result.
