Quoting whc

Just had my visa appointment today. Surprisingly i just handed in my document and did the scanning of my fingerprint. NO interview! or any sort of questions about my travel. Do not know whether that is a good indication.

This is just the submission stage. Your application has to be processed and evaluated first. Only after that they will decide whether to approve, reject, or call you for an interview.

Hi

I would like to ask. If i applied for an WHM visa online, however am not able to book an appointment online. And Tier 5 also have been introduced, what happens? Will I still be able to hold on to my existing WHM visa and wait for an appointment

or

would my exisiting WHM application be invalid once Tier 5 is introduced in November 2008?

the online application doesn't mean anything. which means it's not really an visa application. it's just a tool for you to fill in your particulars in online form and get it printed only.

anyhow also, you still have to make an appointment to submit the printed forms and documents. i'm not sure bout the tier 5 thingie. but just try vfs everyday to get an appointment. they may have opening sometimes.

thanks katopunk. since its so difficult to get an appointment online, do you think its better i head down to the place itself and submit my documents? do u think it'll be faster that way? have anyone personally went to the embassy to submit your documents directly without an appointment? hows the queue like(in sg)?

hmmm. it is COMPULSORY to make and online appointment for WHM. no walk in and the embassy doesn't give a hoot to you if you go directly. they'll ask you to head to http://www.vfs-uk-my.com/

Hi Vanessa,
Congrates on your study offer. I read your post and seems we share the same thoughts. So I think I could give you some two pence. Earlier this year, I applied WHM to travel starting Mac. At the same time, I applied to study Master after which I got an offer from a few universities in UK starting Sept2008. I arrived UK late April, started working late May. As I am happy with my job, I decided to defer my study til next year.

Instead of giving you answer, I would just share my thought:

1.) I did not put my savings into one, or put them into FD. It's such a pain to do that. There isnt really any ideal amount. Any amount that could put you through for at least 3 months in UK. Thats it. I got a friend got through with 12K, but that is not worth applying WHM with such amount. You must be very sure of how your fund is spent and relevance to your location, travel pattern, etc..typically, the more the better. Just ask yourself, with the amount you got, the earnings you expect, will you survive living in UK?

2.) If you got through without interview, should be within 5 working days. Recently, seems like everyone has to go through interview. I think the interview date is the day you will know your application status. unless you have to appeal. Nonetheless, only VFS could tell you when you will know your application status.

3.) I have no knowledge about YMS. But I presume that what you apply today is what you get. If you think that will affect your application, then apply early, otherwise, just apply before YMS commences.

4.) The job that you want is depend on yourself. Do some research of job opportunities you are looking for. Prepare impressive CV, upload and apply to all jobs that are relevant in recruitment sites you could find. Though, always be prepared to take up any job that comes your way. Easier said than done, but never try, never know

5.) The best answer is to ask HSBC. I did approach a few HSBC branches and I got different answer which were NOT helpful at all. One said I can open an account in UK if account in Msia has been a year. Another one said, you can never convert or request a letter to open account in UK. There is a way(which I never tried b4), ask HSBC Msia to send bank statement to UK address(of course you must have the address first) because the very first thing you must show is proof of address. My opinion, there is no hurry to open account, wait til u got a job, then only open one. Unless you carry a lot of money, then you can open Passport account first (60 pound a year). I have a helpful landlord where he put my name on his landline bill to have an address with my name on it. Some bankers in UK are pretty helpful, they would suggest you on several documents you can use as proof of address.

By the way, bear in mind that if you come to UK with WHM, you must go back to Msia to apply Student visa. One of the reasons why I continue to work and defer my study.

Hello

Can anyone tell me, I got rejected WHM in Feb 2008 for the reason of not submitting an unsigned document which was considered as not original, So I appealed providing the original docs ?

But till now i didnt get information regarding my application not even acknowledgement. I called UK,AIT and they said to contact BHC where I submitted and I contacted them too but they said they are not the right person to provide info.

Please tell me whom to contact, any numbers to contact or any email id ?

Can anyone help how should I know whether my appeal is registered or not ?

If registered then how should I check my status ?

Please reply me as early as possible.

Thanks

Yours sincerely,
Vijay

Hello, may I know is a WHM scheme visa holder from Malaysia is eligible for the free health care in the UK or not?

Do we have to register or something like that?

Ah, and yes.. Another question.

Will we, the WHM visa holder have any problems in the entry point with the officer there? Like alot of hassle. eg, interview, proof of fund, and etc.
