I've got the visa. Thanks for all the tips here!

However i have a question here. I'm supposed to go on 21st November 2008, due to some family matter, i can only go in next year (2009) Feb. Is it a must to go on the date stated in the passport? Will they question me when i reach UK?

Congrats! It's okay to arrive after the visa start date. They most probably will not bother about it, but if they do, don't worry. Just tell them truthfully what actually happened and they should have no reason to deny you entry.

wow, it is nice that everybody is enthusiastically looking forward to coming to the UK. it is pretty gloomy in the UK right now, with all the economic upheavel we have been experiencing. lost of jobs, the polish going back home. but i guess now is the time to come, since the pound is a bit weak at 5.7. enjoy your stay in britain....

Did they tell you the reason for rejection ?
If they said some documents are missing then maybe you can submit it along with your appeal.
Good luck

any one of you can share the answer regarding the question "how to make sure you will be coming back after 2 years?"
or wat are you going to do after that....

they just want us to convince them that we will be back and wont overstay, to me, i will say that "i will definately come back, coz..."

1) my parent is still in malaysia
2) i already had my plan, which is i wanna work in China and explore the country, and also to get travel opportunity to India, Nepal and New Zealand, also, China is nearer to malaysia if compared with UK, so i can visit my parent easier (i like china more and more, but i am 27 y/o, yet, i cant miss the opportunity to UK by this visa, so China got to be after that)
3) i dun wish to influence pp who wanna apply this visa in the future if i overstay

are these good ans?
i scare they dun belive but these are really my plans.... i am quite simple

Hi…

A question for all those who have applied for the WHM visa…

Looks like UK is in the worst economic situation in 16 years… and many people (i.e., UK citizens) are losing their jobs and unemployment is high…

Logically… this means that the visa officer is not going to approve ANY work application as of now, right? I mean, if it difficult for their own countrymen to obtain jobs in the current economy, why would the UK Immigration staff allow outsiders to enter the already shaky situation and make things more difficult????

I’m asking because this question was raised by a friend of mine who recently lost her UK job. She’s returning back to India now…

Well… looks like I picked the WORST time in this century to apply :(

well ,perhaps u could look at it this way.
Maybe they need people like us (assuming we're genuine travelers) to spend in their country, to bring a cash influx in ?
Haha, but the bad side is that we will find it tough to get jobs there ..

@Cwsam88
Hey buddy, thanks for the encouraging words. I hope my 205 pounds application money will not go waste. I'm a genuine traveller, LOL, no doubts abt it, I have done internships in US and Singapore, so am kind of hoping I will get the UK WHM visa without much hassle.

But then, what's the point of going to UK for a year of travelling if I can't earn enough to at least survive there? Am very worried...

@chweetgurl...
Hey, thanks for that link... I read from your previous posts that you got a call from BHC... good news... I applied last month, my application is still under process, sigh.

BTW, I see that you are from India. I'm in India too... Do we qualify for the new Youth Mobility Scheme? Because only those from countries that have a similiar working holidaymaker scheme can apply for the new Youth Mobility UK one, and India currently doesn't have a WHM scheme...
