I am pleasantly surprised... was actually expecting a rejection since passport came back in 2 weeks, thought I must hav given wrong photo or something! LOL

Well, the BHC folks have retained my covering letter and visiting card... all other documents I got back...

I am very glad... now I can start making plans!

hii it is great that applcants from India are joining this tread sharing their experience and knwoledge applying this visa. And the blog created is reli awesome, simple yet informative...Bravo keep up your effort.

BUT I do need to comment on the cover letter which is for me is a bit too much. You no need to give any commitment that you will coming back due to the blacklisted issue. EVERYONE knw that they should be back after the visa expired. Furthermore what is the SOLID commitment you will make to ensure that you will definitely be back within the period.

the main concern is to show them ur enthusiasm to travel in UK!!!!!! U must think on behalf their point of view hw to jugde ur application based on ur itinerary and relevant documents.

who cares if you are 27years old or ur plan to China after 2years...

I am already 28years old by the way...

sorry if you find it annoying but this is my best advice to all the applicants

all the best

regards,
simon

hey guys, here is my cover letter for my application, i hope to get some advises from here

i will be applyign in singapore, i am currently having SGD$15k in my saving account, but this scheme is closing soon so i got to apply earlier, the reason has stated in the letter, should i do that?

anyway, here it is

.......................................................

To Whom It May Concern:

The purpose of this letter is the brief about my purposes of why do I apply this visa.

First and foremost, my initial plan was apply by end of this year after I get my bonus as it can enhances my financial strength, but due to closing of this scheme, I made it one month earlier as I assumed that I couldn’t get the sponsor certificate of home country because I had only one year working experience in my own country – Malaysia and I afraid of there are more unannounced requirements that I couldn’t meet.

The reason I chose this visa because I like travel and photography. UK has a lot of stunning natural scenery such as xxx, heritage places like xxx or historical castles that can content my likes; they can’t be found in Asia. In addition, UK has completely different culture and weather with Asia; I hope to have different life experience.

Moreover, I will write down my objectives for this. For easy understanding, I will give explanation in point form as below:

• To improve my English
• To be more independent
• To rest and get new inspiration to improve myself and my work (i am web designer)
(anything can add in?)

I will be much appreciated if I could get this visa; I believe that I will be much better after 2-year rest and learning from a different country. I promise that I will be leaving the country once the visa expired because 2 years is enough for me.

Besides, my parent is still in Malaysia, and most importantly is I don’t want to cause the people who wanted to apply the similar visa in the future and make Malaysia in the blacklist.

.......................................................

should i mention my plan after 2 years?

which is i wanted to go China to work and also can travel there
i am 27 years old, i afraid i will regret in my life if i miss this chance to go UK, should i include this in the letter also?

hi friend,
i'm an editor so let me suggest you some tips here -

1. you are offering too many details in ur letter. no need, it will give an impression that you are not mature. keep the letter short and to the point. Your covering letter should not be more than a page. And what is this black list? i don't know anything about it.

2. generally, keep the covering letter like this:
- introduce yourself (3-5 lines about who you are, what you do etc.)
- why are you going to UK? (what has inspired you to holiday in UK)
- why are you going to uk at this time? what about your job/study/responsibilities?
- why should you come back? (include future plans/job offer etc)
- a check list of documents attached (optional)
- sign the letter with a nice declaration saying you are looking forward to holidaying in UK

3. you definitely need to edit the covering letter so that the grammar and the typos are removed. the letter should be error-free and professional... the British are old-fashioned people with an obsession for perfection, so it will be wise not to give them a covering letter with errors...

:)

hi averynkh,

if i may suggest, don't put "improve english" as a reason to visit uk... if u say that, then the visa officer might think - if she wants to improve her english, why is she coming as a WHMer? she should come as a student...

and a visa application is pretty much like a job application... it's all the same rules... clean, original and error-free documents are needed in both counts ;)

Hi all,

Been a fan with this forum and i check religiously ever since i planned to apply WHM. I'm from Singapore and have submitted my application a month ago. My visa is still in process. I am wondering if i should give a call to British High Comm to find out the status or should i wait for them to reply? I don't think there is a need for me here in Singapore to book a slot after all the submission right but instead wait for the reply. I am worried that it is going to take awhile more till the new scheme start and may affect our application. I don't know if i should call as that might look abit too pushy but least to show my keen with the application or should i wait patiently and shows that this applicant just doesn't bother to find out. I am in delimma.
