Hey Rads...

Ur inputs r really gonna be a boon for many WHM aspirants..i hope people dont COPY & PASTE !! Do a lot of research n prepare ur own Cover letter n Travel plan..It helps esp in interview time!!

its sad tat WHM is taken off end of this month...

@Rads

when do u plan to leave ??

hi chweetgirl,
thank u very much for your comments... yeah, it's sad that they're taking off this visa on Nov 27... but well, that's only for UK na... other countries do have working holiday, like Australia, New Zealand etc... :)

yes... definitely peopel should write their own letters/plans, only then they will be prepared for the interview.. and I uploaded my covering letter only to give an idea to applicants... am sure people won't copy&paste it because, well, for one, my situation is entirely different, i have written down MY reasons, they can't relate to somebody else's life...

and secondly, the british consulate people have retained my covering letter (I didnt get it back!), am sure if anybody copies it, they will be caught, LOL!

i'm planning to leave on dec 28, in time for the new year :). I have many things to tie up here, have to give notice at job, have to write my MA exams in Dec 3rd week... so I got just the right amount of time to start preparing!

:)

Hi All…

I went to the VFS office today to get my docs. and guess what...?

YAY! I FINALLY GOT MY VISA ....I just couldn’t believe it!!! I was anticipating attending an interview but I got the visa without it!!

Anyway, I would like to thanx everyone who had given their input in making this happen.

And with that, I’m handing over some tips to the aspiring WHM/Tier 5 applicants in getting their visa hopefully without having to undergo an interview. Here are the things that I’ve submitted during my application apart from the required forms and photo:-

1) Current and old passports
2) Unit Trust Fund Passbook – as a proof of funds
3) Bank Account Statement – as a proof of my salary payment remitted monthly.
4) Appointment Letters – current job and previous job from 2 different industries to show that I’m employable and also as a proof of my source of income.
5) Salary Slips – last 3 months.
6) EPF Statements (2007 and 2008) – to show that the EPF deductions is consistent with the deductions shown on my salary slip.
7) Tax forms – just to show that I’m a law-abiding citizen and I pay tax
8) Travel Itinerary – I started the itinerary with a summary of my whole backpacking plan (note the keyword; backpacking) ard the UK, on where I would be arriving, a short note on the type of jobs I planned to take up in order to cover my basic cost of living, traveling and entertainment, and finally how I would be leaving the country once the visa is over. The summary is almost half a page. Then I included detailed information of the places I’m planning to visit as well as festivals, celebrations and events within the 2 years.
9) List of Accommodations – of the places I’m planning to visit. They are mostly youth hostels.
10) Travel Budget – I like preparing this part the most. Just remember that whatever figure you put in your budget must be reasonable and should accommodate the funds that you have put aside for your traveling needs.

Just like any other senior in this forum who had previously emphasized this, I’m gonna do the same…research, research, research… I know it really makes you feel de-motivated (I’ve experienced this myself!) what’s with all the reading and studying about the UK and its places of interest for the sake of preparing the itinerary, etc., but trust me….it is all worth it in the end! ;)

Well...i think it's time to start planning...
