Update from workgateways.com

Cut-price Youth Mobility Visa goes live

The long-awaited Youth Mobility visa, part of Tier 5 of the new UK immigration system, is due to replace the working holiday visa on 27 November

Currently only Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians and Japanese working holiday makers will qualify for the new visa, which allows applicants to work in the UK for up to two years.

Great news is that the cost of the visa has been cut by 50%, from £200 (around $480AUD) to £99 (around $230 AUD).

Applicants will need to show proof that they have savings of at least £1600 (approx $3900 AUD/$3000 CAD/$4400 NZD) before applying for the new visa. If you have previously held, or currently hold, a working holiday visa, you will not be eligible to apply for a Youth Mobility visa.

While the new Youth Mobility visa now excludes South Africans and is available to much fewer countries, the cheaper price and increase in allowed working time to two years is terrific news for Australians, Kiwis, Canadians and Japanese (who previously were not eligible) applicants.

after that i will go to shetland by ferry ^^

Hi averynkh,

There's express bus service from Edinburgh to Dundee (or city in Scotland), either Megabus or Scottish City Link, just 1 - 2 hrs journey, you can check the link below:

i submitted my application on the 26th of sept and on the 4th of nov i got a call informing me that my interview has been scheduled for the 9th of dec. i am really glad that my application is already one foot at the door. can i safely say that i stand a high chance of getting my visa approved if i managed to answer the questions asked?
cos i want to book my flight ticket before getting the visa, and hope to fly off around 20th dec.

concerning work, i am planning to work in a restaurant in portsmouth for the initial first 2 months. how about the rest? any other way i could secure a above average pay job in UK before i leave?

my reply to the meet up in london: sounds great, we could like create a support group, helping each other around UK. just that someone needs to initiate and make plans.
