I'm scheduled to depart on this Monday. It seems like the thing is different now. I'm starting to get worried. It's not the matter of getting your visa approved or not. Even it's approved, you may get refused entry to UK. Arghhh... I really hope that everything is all right for the incoming WHM fellas into UK.

Check this out.

You've misunderstood the article. It is about Working Holidaymakers who have returned to Malaysia, before the 2-year term expires, to apply for another category of visa (Tier 1 or Work Permit).

The Entry Clearance for WHM states that you can work for a maximum of only 12 months out of the 2-year validity. However, the British High Commission in KL interpreted the WHM rules as 50% work and 50% holiday. Based on that interpretation, if you had spent your time in the UK for only 16 months in total, you should not work for more than 8 months.

In the article, the guys had only been there for about 12 months on WHM, and they had already worked for 12 months and are now back in Malaysia to apply for another category of visa which to allow them to continue to work. So based on the KL BHC's interpretation, they have violated the terms, and thus their applications for the Tier1 or Work Permit were rejected.

The same thing also happened in Australia and South Africa a few months back. There were complaints and also media attention on that because it was interpreted differently in New Zealand (which means 12 months, and not 50:50). It was reported that the British High Commission in both countries later overturned their earlier decisions to reject the EC application based on those grounds.

So, back to you, don't worry about coming into the UK. Just make sure you have a couple of hundred of pounds in cash ready when you board the flight as the airlines might ask you to show that you have money to enter the UK.

Think my visa is also one of those that has been affected by the delay.

just received a call from vfs at 5.20pm, informed to attend an interview on 4th December.
submitted the application on the same date as you, 24th sept. hows your status?

Hi soolee,

Same here :) I've got a call from VFS too.

4th Dec. Interview. So the chance could be 50-50 now :)

Hopefully everything goes well for all of us.

I've just received a call from VFS, saying my interview on 4th Dec will be postponed to Jan 2009. They will call again to inform me on the exact date.

reason being, there'll be no interview conducted for WHM in Dec 08.

Anybody has the same encounter?

Thanks

No interview will be held at December.( Guess , maybe BHC officer go for Xmas holidays ? ) VIsa centre officer said i am the lucky one , as i am one of the last batch of WHM applicants. My travel plan gonna postpone again.

Hi Happy,

Last batch of WHM? What do mean? You mean those who submitted before 27th Nov? When did you submit your application? I submitted on 30th Sep, now no news at all, no call no status update also. I call VFS, they just ask me to wait. Are they indirectly reject my application?
