Hi,
On Nov 26, 2008, the UK working holidaymaker visa was discontinued. It has been replaced by Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS).

If you are a Malaysian citizen, you cannot apply for the YMS visa. Currently, only passport holders from the following countries are eligible to apply under the UK Youth Mobility Scheme:

Australia
New Zealand
Canada
Japan

Dear friends,

If you hold a working holidaymaker visa in UK, what is the amount of time you can spend working in UK?

My WHM visa says (on the visa) that I can work for 12 months. But links like this say that you can work only 50% of the total time you stay in UK. That is, if you stay for 1 year, you can work only for 6 months.

What is this 50% ratio equation? I didn't see this in any clause on the UK Gov site, but suddenly everybody is talking about this equation. Anybody can comment on this?

Thanks,

Radhika

not only that, dont know how the 12 months term is implied. If I dont work on weekend or public holiday or on leave in any particular day, that should count to the 12 months period or not. Not working on weekend for 12 months is almost equivalent to not working for 3 months. No?
Anyone has any idea?
