Hi,
Would like to ask whether the WHM Visa is still eligible to apply ? Or it is already obsolete and follows the Tier System ?
Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Just wanna share bout my application and appeal process (which I have waited for almost 8/9 months before it was approved)..

I m a Malaysian working in Singapore. I applied the WHM visa in Singapore on 09 June 2008. Got rejected after 4 days due to some reason. 1 day later I submitted my appeal which goes like this....:

[i]SECTION 4 : APPEAL AGAINST THE REFUSAL OF ENTRY CLEARANCE

Our previous application stated that we would be traveling around UK, working for food & lodging under the auspices of an organization for 18 months, as well as due to our economic circumstances mentioned by the ECO, our Entry Clearance were refused. Therefore, we would like to appeal against the decision by the ECO base on the grounds that we were unaware and ignorant of the fact that voluntary work/ unpaid work is still considered as work. Hence due to this, we had projected our intension to join the said program for 18 months which had clearly breached the Immigration Rules paragraph 95 (vi).

Hence, we would like to appeal for our travel plan to be reconsidered as we amend our travel plan. After the amendment, we plan to join the program for only 1 month in which we will visit the first host to whom we had confirmed our bookings with, as soon as we arrive at Heathrow Airport.

We plan to visit UK for 18 months. Our subsequent plan is to travel 60% (approximately 10.08 months), and work any kind of part-time job, 40% (approximately 6.2 months for the first year) to support our travel in case our proposed fund of (xxx) runs out. We would take up jobs that have a flexible working time so that we could travel around more during the time when we work.

Please also view the attached for our amended travel itinerary as we will no longer be joining the said program for a long period of time.

With this, we would appreciate if you could look into our appeal and we look forward to your favorable reply.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Subsequently, I got a call from BHC Malaysia on 16 Feb 2009 saying that my appeal was succesful.. and I will be going to London by Air Asia on 14 May 2009.. So for those who have appealed for the Visa.. don't be surpise if you have to wait longer than expected.

Rgds,
Drmuk

hi, can anyone from singapore help me?
all my money are saved in DBS bank, what is the best way for me to bring them all to UK?
i applied hsbc passport account online, waiting response now
someone told me can exchange all to travel cheque, then bring that cheque to UK and exchange to cash and bank in to that hsbc account, but have to activate first

i am so confusing to all these thing >"<
so now my money are all singapore dollar, i go to bank and exchange to UK pound travel pounds?
then when i get to UK, exchange/deposit all to that account
does anyone know what charges are there from this process?
or any other better and safer way for me? :(

thanks ^^

i would save the money in dbs and apply for a credit card.
if the credit card is a chip and pin then it is very useful in uk(london esp)
even mcDonalds acept cards...only certain small local convenience stores / market don't
then every month end do online transfer. check with the bank if it is possible to get cash from atm with their atm card. if u could, then better. don't even need a credit card.
£ is very weak now...so if i got S$ then i would save it there and when start earning £ just spend the £

my 2 pence opinion
