even nw it is hard to get waiting staff job in china town...

i had tried before with waiting staff experience, but still unable to secure any..#

as it become more competitive where most of the employer prefer chinese from mainland with student visa where the wages are lower...

and dont forget restaurant in chinatown dont include accomodation...

after deduction of the expenses for transportaiton and accomodation, you have not much left in ur pocket...

my suggestion: better for for outskirt area restaurant or takeaway outlet...

or maybe try gumtree and look for babysitter job... wages might not be high... but easy task with accomodation provided

all the best

It is really tough getting a job in london. I've seen an advert in china town hiring baker (bakery shop) 2 days ago. I have no other details besides knowing it's a bakery shop. But if you can read chinese, pick up some chinese papers, it might help I heard.

yes, the advert has been there since ages... wondering why until nw they cant get the right ppl..

yes, it might be hard to get a job due to credit crunch.. but dont give up... still believing that still could get a one but just be patient...

gumtree is the best.. try to look in the part time job section...send as much CV as possible...also try to look for food chain outlet like mcdonal, pret a manger, or cafe like costa...just look into their website and look if there is any vacancy...

if you knw to speak cantonese, mandarin and knw to read and write chinese... willing to work hard.. there is alot chinese restaurant you could try... just walk in and ask, leave ur contact number... they might contact you in future...

could try to pick up chinese paper in china town and look for job thru advertirement.. but you need to pay some commision to the agent if you mange to get a job...

all the best

I would like to also suggest people to search with job agencies, they offer temp and permanent jobs.
Reed.co.uk,totaljobs.com,monster.com.. such websites do have many job vacancies featured..
Wish all the best
