Hi Echin,

1. There isn't a need to have a medical report. My friend had his health checked upon arrival in the airport but that was
5 years ago. I flew into Manchester in last June and there wasn't any check ups done.

2. Upon arrival in the airport, you'd need to present a card (which you'll be ask in the plane if you need one) to the
officer. You just have to fill the card up with information like address you be staying and others. I booked a hostel
prior to that so i just gave them my hostel's address - there wasn't a problem.

3. I've not been to London. You might want to get hold of this another holidaymaker from Malaysia, there were talking
about accomodation in a Malaysian Hall in London in another threat.

4. I bought one (AXA Assurance) from my insurance agent who's in Great Eastern for 2 weeks cover. Best is to look at
the plans, what they cover and decide if you need them. They are actually not expensive. Some credit cards
companies does come with the travel insurance if you pay the air ticket with the card.

:)

hi echin,
i dont think u need any medical checkup report upon arrival. u will want to present a hotel booking confirmation though, thats quite important. just book any hotel online and do the printout, once u passed the immigration just cancel ur booking. the last time i went to london to look for my gf, they asked me who am i looking for, where will i be staying and even how and when i met my gf. but its their procedures, everything should be ok when everything's clarified. about travel insurance, i asked my agents ( axa and great eastern ) both dont cover overseas . i dont know if they have such plan for tat. try uk's local healthcare service ( http://www.headstart2london.com/register_for_doctor.php ) . how u found any accomodation yet ? ive check with malaysian hall, their price is not so cheap as described. its about 84 pounds per week PER PERSON and if u check the local property website, its actually cheaper if u get a house sharing room. its about 110 pounds per week for a double bed room, that price is for a couple. imagine 84 pounds X 2 if u stay in malaysian hall. Add me on msn -snip- or email me at -snip if u want to discuss further, we can share some ideas ....same goes to other brothers and sisters going there soon. all the best !

[ Edit: Sorry, no personal details please. ]

Hi CWS-JO,

I managed to buy a travel insurance policy from AXA Affin General Insurance (formerly known as AXA Affin Assuarance) from my insurance agent who works in Great Eastern.

Cheers :)

hi skyef,
are u give any insurance card ? so that when u are admitted to clinic or hospital, they will accept u without problems? how are u doing there in uk ? hows the weather now ? going in autumm ?

Hi CWS-JO,

A insurance card and a policy was given, with a set of instructions on what need to be in hand (revelant receipts, documents) should you be filing any claims.
Unfortunately, we would need to fork out our own money first and get back the reimbursement later on. I've been to one and paid just for the perscriptions - so it wasn't that expensive. But it depends on what kind kind of sickness you have of course.
I'm here as you should know by now.
