bash them? hahah...if i can get there to do tat.....
yea...i need help on accomodations....

and....do i need to get return tickets as well? coz i initially plan to get a one way ticket....

Hi shirni,

......
It depends on your plans. There's no return ticket if you plan to go back to Malaysia after a year above. I bought a single and had no problem entering the UK. For the accommodation, i booked a cheap hostel through this website (check left corner) and extended my stay thereafter because the place was alright. And when i was more settled (got a job) moved into a rented room.

Hi shirni,

Very similar to home country Malaysia, it depends on what your field or what field you wish to be in. There are all range of work from office, sales, hospitality to menial jobs. Just remember to bring your CV and references.

When you arrive, get yourself registered with the local job centre for an interview to obtain a national insurance number/card. If you do get a job before flying in it's okay to start before the interview.
I think i'm thankful for (in some way ) these government job centres provide services and protection as a 'whole package'. Inquiries, advice, job searching, etc. are all here. I got myself a job search survival guide book from the centre which is pretty handy, the way cv's written here is slightly different from Malaysia. Apart from relying on job centre, i also registered myself with some private job agency, go door to door (a tiring task) and check on some local sites for job opportunities. Networking helps too. This whole thing has given me lots of experience, learn from the blunders i made and still could afford more :). In the end sometimes things looks like they couldn't get better be it job searching or accommodation (especially for the ones who's here on own).. self persistent and belief is vital.

You could confirm your preferred seats when checking in, if you check in earlier to avoid 'hot seats' being snapped up quickly.

Hi Guys,

I shall be submitting my application by this friday, hopefully.
Just thought of seeking your opinion, i have around RM41K in my savings & current account.
I have declared that will be using RM35K from it as my available fund for my stay while at UK/
I have the certified true copy bank statements to prove my incomes (i am permanently employed & have my own web business).
On top of that, my mother has agreed to sponsor me the flight ticket as my birthday gift.
She has 2 fixed deposit cert amounting RM7k to show as proof.
She does not have other fixed deposits, but one house (purchased cash) and a car (purchased cash).
So, do you think i should ask my brother to chip in as another sponsor?

Thanks for the input.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune...
Personally, i think 13k is a too little, if you convert...its less than GBP2000.
Hope you could find a sponsor asap. :)
