Hey 2212,

By the looks of it, I think you should qualify, although the lack of travel experience may handicap you abit (depending on the officer that reviews your application). My application was similar to yours, the only difference being that I had done some travelling prior to applying for the WHV.

One thing that may boost your chances is if you could show the source of your funds (i.e. that it is from helping in the family business and not from illegal sources). Also, it may help if you are able to furnish a 'guarantor' letter from your father, together with all of your father's documents and bank statements that you listed.

All the best with you application should you decide to proceed!

Hello all my fellow Malaysians!

I've just arrived a few days ago in the UK and am going to start job hunting soon. Any tips on agencies to use? Also, I've been to the banks to open a bank account but it seems that they need a "Proof of Address" to open a bank account. Did anyone manage to get around this requirement?

And does anyone in London or Cardiff at the moment want to meet up? I am in Cardiff at the moment but moving on to London soon.

Btw, if anyone needs help on their applications, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer to the best of my knowledge. :)

Gud Luck in ur job hunting..:)

Hi.. guy… you are rite…All the ppl who are in unemployed status will very happy to hear the result you get. (Me are the 1 too)..

Firstly.. congratulation you get a best new year giff…

Main point… I have few question to ask you…..

- I am unemployed as well… or can say I just help in my home business, then I got no payslip, no fix bank-in status, no KWSP, no employer letter …..
- I have about RM53k in 2 of my savings account. I’ll show 1 acc in 2 month latest statement (because this acc opened at last 2 month, so only can show in 2 month), and the other account I’ll show by passbook.
- In my travel plan I have listed down by monthly where I’ll go + F&E + hostel and hostel website + where i plan to work ( 4 pages, total 22month/ 6 month work/ 3 month travel to Europe. Is that enough?)

- I don’t have any education cert, so ignore about this
- Same as above I don’t any travel experience so ignore this as well.

How you think? Am I qualified to apply WHM scheme?

About my income can I just write a letter to explain I work for my father cum my father business cert, property s/p, bank statement or bank passbook?

2212, since it's registered business you're working for , why not using the letter head of ur father company and type urself a employment letter?? , probably a salary slip as well.

one of my previous employment letter also issued from my uncle company which i never worked before

simply find an agency and they will give you a job. fastest can be start by tomorrow. i am not sure bout london cause i hate london but i know there's tons of job in Bristol and it's cheaper to stay overthere. remember the minimum wages in London is 7.15 pound per hour while the rest of the area is 5.525 pound per hour. i been told you don't need to pay tax if working in Isle of Man.

i really like to work in the orchards so think will spend more time in Scotland and Northern Ireland

If your fine wif transit at another country, then there are so many options for you & its cheaper too :)
I might consider transit flight as im afraid the jetleg might wore me out.

Sure, we will catch up next week.. i'll PM you my mobile no.

Cheers & have a great weekend everybody :)

Try Emirates or Qatar Airways if you don't mind transiting. They offer pretty competitive rates (it was RM1000 cheaper than MAS for a return ticket when I booked my flight). Furthermore, if your transit time exceeds a certain amount of hours (i.e. long transit), you get a free room at the airport hotel which I've heard is VERY luxurious!

Also, I've got some interviews with the agencies lined up but apparently you need an NIN number prior to being able to begin work? Is that true? My NIN interview only comes up after my interview with the agencies.

Hey British airline is one of the very good option and cheap too !! Cheaper than Qatar , Thai or any others..
i flew with BA last 2 weeks and it is great esp Qantas to Hong Kong ( transit )
The stewardess is very accomodating .
I ask for empty rows during my check in and i got the 3 seats all to myself ..
Just Kamcing with them a bit...
I strongly suggest BA

Freezing cold right now. Remember to bring extra jumper !
